League leaders Liverpool face off against a strong, in-form Bournemouth, a crucial game for both sides. Here's how they lined up before the game:
To be honest, a very thrilling game from the first minute, both teams displaying their quality and determination to get their 3 points. Semenyo really stood out for me, being a constant threat and creating chances, he was quite unlucky to score to tell the truth. Considering Tavernier's game time, he deserves some credit too, hitting the woodwork and having some good defensive plays. Some disappointing performances from Kluivert and Outtara on the other hand, taking into account Kluivert's recent form and Outtara's hattrick last game. Cook had a mixed game, and Kepa. Kerkez was also pretty good. Now for Liverpool's individual performances, of course, Salah was ultimately the best player in my opinion, scoring a brace overtaking Lampard in PL goals, he won fouls and was clinical throughout. Alisson was a really close second for me. He was extremely great in this game pulling off important saves and keeping a clean sheet. The fact that Bournemouth had an XG of about 1.6, displays how significant he was. The Dutch duo Gravenberch and Gakpo were both pretty good as well, Gravenberch pulling out and amazing turn and roulette spin in the 58th minute and his attempt on goal going just wide. Gakpo was again quality, winning the penalty and unfortunate to be forced off in the 70th minute after a challenge with Cook. Mac Allister wasn't the worst as well, winning many fouls and linking up with Salah, he eventually got a yellow and was subbed off for Jones. Speaking on the topic of Jones, he was very good for the amount of minutes he played, getting an assist and showed determination, as well as Bradley.
For the overall game, Bournemouth were extremely unlucky not to score, hitting the woodwork twice, a reasonable amount of shots on target and Kluivert's missed oppurtunity in the 70th minute, wow, how on earth did he miss that! Extremely unlucky for a player like him. We can't also forget Brooks' amazing strike in the 37th minute that was ruled offside, a very fair and reasonable call there. For Liverpool, we were very clinical and overall played good, creating an XG of about 2.7 - 2.9. we had some good oppurtunities to attack and score and in the end we scored 2, both from the Egyptian King. Szoboszlai had a good attempt at goal and Gravenberch. Addressing the penalty, I think it was quite harsh but was enough contact for a foul, Cook ultimately clips Gakpo's foot and causes him to trip over his foot, a very tight decision but fair in the end. Also addressing Trent's supposed handball, it definitely hits his chest and the angle makes it seem the other way, a close call though! One final thing, both of Salah's goals had amazing finishes, I mean, that penalty was rifled in the bottom corner, making Kepa look like he didn't even try to save it! His second goal was even better, you never want Salah on his left foot to be in those situations, it's almost guaranteed a goal! He makes it look easy, keeping the keeper still and defenders shocked. Let's give it up for Salah please!
To conclude, this game gives Liverpool a 9 point margin from Arsenal and Nottingham Forest, Arsenal could decrease this margin to 6 if they come successful in their game vs Man City later today, a great game! For Bournemouth, the game puts them at 7th place, behind Chelsea, who have a game in hand vs West Ham on Monday. This can take a massive toll on Bournemouth as they can go 3 points behind Chelsea if they win against West Ham and Aston Villa have a possibility of overtaking Bournemouth who are just 3 points behind. Liverpool - 56 points , Bournemouth - 40 points.
A great game between the two strong sides, full of shots and amazing performances. Next analysis ARSENAL F.C VS MANCHESTER CITY F.C
